Is Shrove Tuesday. I am crap at making pancakes. I don't know if housemates are in to make pancakes with. Does anyone want to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with me? I have lemonjuice and flour and stuff...
Urge to go homehome to Wimbledon kicks in, but I don't think I want to do that right away, really. Hmm.

Date: Tuesday, 4 March 2003 09:56 am (UTC)There might be coaches, or all-round-the-gasworks trains, or something.
X5 goes from Oxford to Cambridge (sometimes with a change at Bedford) every hour or so IIRC. Cambridge Cruiser (or whatever the hell the CCS coach is called these days) goes every couple of hours, takes longer, goes via every bloody airport in the South of England, and is more expensive, but I think runs later (i.e. all through the night).
Train goes Oxford->Paddington->[tube]->King's Cross->Cambridge. Easiest way to do the tube crossing is get on the H&C line, then you don't even have to change. At the moment, though, tubes are a bit funted, so it's anybody's guess...
I much, much, much, much (did I mention how much?) prefer to take the train. With a railcard it's not that much more expensive, and it's so much more comfortable. I can read without feeling sick; get up to go to the loo while travelling; buy nice food at King's Cross (the soups from "Soup Opera" are gorgeous!) rather than buying soggy burgers on the train; and get some kind of useful information about when the next train's due if there are delays. (It's saying something when the coach info is worse than the trains...)
Argh, my railcard expires for good in a couple of months. I am officially not a Young Person any more then. :-(
