... or, in English, the house is my bitch.

I have got up at a reasonable time this morning (9ish), found clean clothes that I like (the ankle-length thigh-slit satin skirt isn't practical but it is lovely), and Done Useful Things. I have made a list of things I need to get done, and begun doing them. Top of the list was sorting out clothes-drying facilities, as the dryer-bit of our washer-dryer is broken (and will get fixed sometime next week when we can afford it). So I found the hooks left over from putting the blind up, and the nails, and the hammer, and installed a hook at each end of the bath, and found the string, and now we have a mini-washing line which can be unhooked as required. I have also put the concertina-clothes-horse on *top* of the washer-dryer, which is currently pulled out of its space, and so the entire load of clothes is happily drying away - and I have blocked the bathroom door so the cat cannot get in and fluff all over them.

I have made myself delicious lunch - a potato, tuna, spring onion and butter-bean salad with pepper and a little reduced-fat mayonnaise - and after lunch I will get to work clearing my sewing table and make a start on Robert's patched coat.

House hurrah!

Today has been as good as yesterday! I had a slow start, and woke up feeling very floppy and groggy and generally headachy. I therefore wimped out of meeting The Girls for moose and juffins, and instead spodded online for a while. Criossants and ham brought restored vigour and vitality, and I embarked upon the task Robert had spent the previous day enabling - he spent yesterday moving my bookshelf (my very own lovely bookshelf which has been marooned in the yucky dining room for two years!) into the back room upstairs, into the space vacated by the small bookshelf (which is now in the bedroom on top of a chest of drawers)! He'd cleaned it and everything, and put all the books in boxes for me :) I was very happy indeed when I came in last night.

So I got to organise my books! I have almost two shelves of theology/church history/religious-topics books, which makes me feel like I have a brain, and I have my nice copies of Austen all together, and all my Trollope in one place, and all the plays and poetry together on the bottom shelf. It's lovely and wonderful and I'm very pleased. Some of the spare books are now stacked neatly in a box.

Then later I was even more useful. As Robert had moved the bookcase the dining-room was quite a bit less awful than it had been (he'd also thrown out lots of stuff), and so I could get into it and extract all my fabric which has been lying around getting covered in fluff and hair and dirt and yuck. It's in five boes total now; one box of clean fabric (stuff which was put in there when it was brand new), one box of dirty fabric which can be used for peasant costumes, one box of dirty fabric which cannot be used for peasant costumes, and two buckets of scraps divided on the same principle. It's all neat and out of the way! It's great!

Must eat tasty crispbake, going cold.

Weekend update

Yesterday was good! [livejournal.com profile] purpleheather and I went over to [livejournal.com profile] aardnebby's mother's house, to use her conservatory floor to paint things on. We got 2.3 banners and 1 curtain painted, so I have .6 banner and 1 curtain to deal with and Heather's got a coverlet to sew. The banners are faaaaantastic; Heather has photos so hopefully they'll be online sometime soonish (or I'll see if I can take some with Robert's camera!) Heather did a marvellous Balance symbol banner, and we both worked on the designs for the animal totem banner, which I then drew. It actually all looks very good indeed :) Heather and Steve painted their hands and did a healing-hand-and-moons design for one curtain; I stencilled a phoenix on the third banner. I have to complete that, do another one and two moons, and paint 'Kul-Tha Rangers' in the middle.

We were meanwhile fantastically fed by Steve's mum, and then went on to Rikk's housewarming, which was most enjoyable :)

No, my silence is not due to post-Histories comedown. I only posted on four days in December - it's been going on a while.

One possible reason which has just occured to me is that maybe I only have two settings at the moment - silent or over-share. I really can't talk about the stuff at the forefront of my mind - it's TMI and a bit Schroedinger's in nature (as in, allowing it to be observed changes its nature)- and the other stuff is either boring or a bit depressing (I haven't a prayer of getting my UCAS app in on time).

I am going to compel myself to update occasionally, and may make lots of private posts to reacclimatise myself to writing. If I commit all the stuff in my head to type but where no-one else can see it, perhaps I will free up my headspace for writing about other things.

So, recent highlights of the Land of Lucy:
* agressive mould, post-Shards, has eaten a pair of my pyjama trousers. Literally - the white parts of the white/red woven tartan pattern have dissolved. It's scary. They were my favourites, too. I am sad.

* The company for which I work are in the process of gaining approval to offer me a fixed-term contract. This will mean improved job security and additional interesting things to do; no word on pay and hours yet. And hey, they like me!

* On that note, I got to impress the Big Boss by calling hotels in French the other day. I just wish I could've remembered the word 'entreprise (business) at the time.

* I am still totally knackered after the Histories.

* Robert's band Very Short Pier played a gig in Reading last night. They were excellent and their new drummer and singer are very good. I had lots of fun being Groupie-In-Chief (in a homemade band t-shirt) and official tea girl.

* I am trying to work out ways to see my friends more often and more regularly. It is hard because so many nice people live far away, and I am so busy!

* I have made assorted semi-resolutions and begun to make some big Plans for the year (mostly about the house) but have not done anything yet. Most of my life is at the too-big-a-problem-to-tackle stage.

* I need to talk to people. That could mean email or phone or LJ or anything, but I need to talk to people. Please reassure me I have a brain. Please ask me something. Have I studied something you're interested in? Have I expressed an opinion you want to challenge me on? Please, I beseech you, post a comment or send me an email.
