I have a hearing aid! I can hear! It's great! Everything is unusually loud. I'm finding it really strange. it was amazing when it was first fitted - the girl doing it turned up the volume slowly and the look on my face when we got to 2.5 (on a 1-4 scale) was obviously really funny :) I was flabbergasted. My God, there's all this noise and I haven't been hearing it for twenty-one years! Well, I have been hearing it, but my right ear's been doing all the work, so one hearing apparatus, not two. Ooooooh, I'm so bouncy about this :)

I have booked tickets for 'Two Weeks' Notice' tonight, which should be fun. I put my flat black strap shoes in for repair, though the cobbler is a little dubious about how well he can do them (because the soles are rubber). I bought some quick food supplies, and spoke to my mother (very briefly). Not bad for three-and-a-half hours in town.

Now I await a further phonecall from my mother, which will probably degenerate into an argument about whose fault it is we haven't spoken for three weeks. *sigh* Robert will be here in about an hour and a half, so there's that to look forward to :) I'd better do some tidying up...

*hug* that's fantastic news. I remember finally getting glasses and spending a week going round saying things like "look, look, a tree!" like an excited toddler. Must be kind of similar...

Whooo, I'm impressed, I never realised you were half deaf! As I am too, one would think that I'd have recognised the hearing behaviour in someone else (i.e. the turning of the head to direct the better hearing ear towards the speaker, or watching someones lips when they speak). What type of hearing aid did you get, a small one or a behind-the-ear one? Just be careful if you're prone to ear infections as the humidity inside your ear can cause them.
I've had mine (behind the ear) for about a year now although I rarely use it, I found that I like being able to shut the world out, and also I had to cut my hair off due to a bleaching disaster so it was showing :(

Well, happy hearing ;)
Anna
