I was doing very well this morning. Now, however, I am coughing so much and so hard I feel as though the inside of my throat will shortly be making a visit to the outside world. Drinking liquids is giving me trapped air in my oesophagus which then makes me cough ill I retch and then get rid of it again. My back, head, stomach muscles and shoulder muscles are starting to ache. My nose is thoroughly blocked. I can't manage to keep this up all night. I have zer chance of sleep. Robert is out cold on the sofa downstairs.

I don't think there's anything I can do at all. I am getting quite distressed.

no sleep yet. am forcing robert out at 9 to buy me more medicine. I cannot go on coughing like this and not do myself serious damage. other than this and the side-effects (ears, shoulders, etc) I feel just fine.

I am SO TIRED.

I'm sure somene mentioned Robitussin in a comment somewhere but I can't find it at the moment. I have some, have taken a first dose, but found it tasted so horrid I washed it down very quickly with water. I'm guessing this might have been the wrong thing to do, yes? (It doesn't say you mustn't on the packet, though.) Can anyone who's used it confirm whether or not letting the syrup slosh around your palate is a necessity?

I was bored, ill and home alone for a bit last night, and I felt well enough to go and sit in front of the television for a while. Thus I ended up watching an entire episode of 'The Bachelor'.

It was surprisingly interesting, actually. It was the second round - the original 25-odd were down to 15, and the programme finished with the selection of 8 of those to go forward to the next round. The whole lot of them were on the French Riviera, and there were three dates of five girls each for the Bachelor (Jamie, who really should have shaved, really, really) to make his choices.

It was quite easy to pick out some of the girls who wouldn't get through, especially as Jamie started to talk to the camera about which girls he did like. I thought through the first two dates he was going exclusively for small, slender, young, giggly blondes; however, in the last date he approved of a brunette too, which was good.

I ended up with a favourite girl; Mel, who was older than most of the girls (30, where they were mostly at least 3 years younger), did not have an exciting hairstyle/colour or eyecatching dress sense, and did not have extraordinarily large breasts. However, she was very lively, funny, and playful, and refused to take it too seriously. I thought he wouldn't pick her at the end, though he had liked her on the joint date; but he did! I may have to keep up with the programme to cheer her on a bit. It would be nice to see the guy pick someone other than a rather stereotypical busty blonde.

I was surprised he didn't pick the rather gorgeous Asian girl, Priscilla, though; I suspect she didn't talk enough for him. I think the curly-haired blonde singer/songwriter Helen will be causing trouble in future instalments, since she cannot keep her mouth shut.
