If anyone can think of anywhere else I should post this message to reach likely assistance, please tell me.

I have a new Toreador. She is 13th gen, embraced 1901 in London. Her sire would be likely to be someone she met through the art world - she got noticed for her painting in 1899 aged 19 by someone; this could be an opening for an Embrace two years later aged 21. She was Acknowledged in the London court over the next years, and left the country maybe 15 years later for rural France. I am still sorting details of what happened over the period of the Great War and WWII. She returned to England last week, and showed up in Stoke at the Toreador Ball to meet her clan head and be introduced to people. Her name is Elodie Lebrun (born Elodie Brown) and she speaks with a dodgy French accent. Home domain likely to be London.

I need a sire. Also, if anyone wants to occasionally play a rakish Bohemian-type male French Toreador ghoul, about 28 years old, please shout.

Any help, tips on writing backgrounds, people who hung around the fringes of high society in the last decade of Victoria's reign, or people who've been about in France over the past 80 years, all welcome.

My character is a Toreador. Was in London about that time. Is in the art world and a painter. But is 10th Generation and can't sire. :(

I could do a non Sire type tie in, if you'd like ...

Stafford... going to Birmingham.

Basically, where we met.. how well we knew each other and what we'd know about each other ... that sort of stuff. :)

The two Toreador lineages I know...

...are [profile] riksowden and co.'s lot in House Diomedes, and the Clifford lot which are currently sorta headed up by an archon, and which Liam's Toreador is descended from.

1901 Paris...hmmm...

On a completely non-Toreador note - if you're feeling brave the adorable Nikita was kicking around Paris at that time - called Alena Alexandrovna. So - if you want an oprichnina tie-in you could have known a very lost, slightly scary, half feral Russian underworld type girlie with no class, dress sense, ability to seduce (this was pre-Veylor) and a kinda of brutal honesty about the way the world worked.

I think that could be fun - but I'm not sure if you want to get to know her after all the horrible things [profile] mageanst says about the poor lass.

Why did I substitute Paris for London? I know - coz you're French. Oh well - Niki was in London as well - so we could work them as having met in either London or Paris (I chose those two cities for having a Russian emigree population and a quite radical political underworld at that time) and I thought it could be cool.

The Oprichnina are a lovely family of Brujah all from Russia. :)

Sally & her characters...

That could fit nicely. Paris in 1916 would be war torn, but I think the Germans never made it to Paris in that war.

WW1 was 1914-1918 in the west, and 1914-1917 on the eastern front (Russia) with the Russian Civil War kicking off in 1917 and going into the early 1920s.

I have this mild fog hanging over Niki's life between 1881 and 1916 when she went back to Russia with just Paris/London hanging about. To be fair you probably wouldn't get a lot of oprichnina tie ins - mostly Niki and maybe Manko (played by [profile] skinny_cartman) if you're interested.

The Oprichnina are a historical Russian secret police type thing, but are also the name of a Russian brujah bloodline who are largely psychopaths. Niki (who Moreton Drake is ALLEGEDLY IN LOVE WITH DESPITE HIS COLD AND BLOODY USELESS...ahem...anyway...) is my PC. Matt Hope plays Manko, another one, and James Moody plays Vasya who is another one of the line.

They are basically very family based, pretty incestuous, with this kind of savage loyalty. They are cool and a lot of fun to play. We just psychologically scarred Steve's PC and he hasn't quite recovered yet, apparently...:)

On one random note - if she did leave London in 1916 she left at exactly the same time Niki did, so maybe we could have it that the two neonates travelled across war torn Europe together - both trying to get back home.

That would be quite an emotionally intense time for them to have met, and could lead to some nice back history mebbe.

Actually that could work quite well. She was a young Toreador who got caught up with the wrong sort of people, and make Niki skulking in the fringes - this odd savage creature who seemed quite at home in the most sordid places, but still had this slightly peculiar kind of innocence about her at times - the way my gangrel who you met at the NW Ball sometimes does.

You got into trouble, perhaps to the extent that something gribbly was about to happen, and then Niki helped you out briefly, and afterwards said if you needed to get out of the country - well - she was leaving for France the next night. Would you like to come?

Then they could both have left.

I'll try and write something up and send it to you.

Niki would have been Alena Alexandrovna then. And maybe in England she was known as Allie - something like that.

*grins*

Sounds cool...

Hmm, well 1901 Alexander was hiding (NOT sulking) from everyone, and wouldn't really be good as a sire for a 13th anyhow (i'm not that good at blagging...)

You could possibly tie-in with the House Diomedes thing - though we are generally a load of useless and talentless poseurs... With pretentions of, well, pretention ;)

Erm, well, we're a bunch of Toreador (duh) who all draw our lineage back to the same 7th gen fella, and who are as a group, for the most part, not very good ;)

We're poseurs and snobs, we're socialites and butterflies. The house is great - we spend more time being bitchy at each other than we do anything else.

We have a couple of actual artists within the House as well, but we try not to draw too much attention to that...

The write up on the Toreador website is good - catch me online (mIRC is best) and i'll give you the URL...

Define particularly?

And the other possibility is that Alexander is a Patron (and a member of the Plutus guild) and so if you are in need of such...?

Yeah - You're in the same Guild as Sebastin. Aphrodite.

Guilds have Ranks.
Apprentice - Every character starts at this level.
Journeyman - You need a minimum of Crafts x3 (in your specific artform) to hold this Rank.
Master - You need Crafts x5 (in your specific artform) to hold this Rank.

You need to work on your Journeyman's Piece - i.e. create a piece of work to be critiqued by a member of Guild Nemesis - if it is found worthy - you are promoted.

Patrons, from Guild Plutus, are the sponsors of your art work who pay for it and such.

Yes you would know that IC.

I expect you'll be going for Journeyman - talk to me and I can help you with it since I'm *grumble grumble* doing mine again for the second time IC.

*mutters about crappy records*

But yeah - You'd start as an Apprentice. :-)

If you want, for any time post 1950, you can have looked after a retarded Torrie artist called Lizzie Dutton for a while. She's one of those people that tends to get shunted around to anyone who's not quick enough to have got out of the way in time.

Can't do the sire thing, as generations don't match sadly. Sorry.

can't do the sire thing, can't really do the current character tie-in thing either...

but....

my lovely brujah ex-character spent between 1917 and 2001 in rural france, darting between her houses and flats there.... possibly could have some connection there.... but its another oprichnina contact...

My friendly Tremere was around in Europe and Asia-type places all over the last century, and so if you travelled then they could have bumped into each other; Switzerland, Austria, Greece and Egypt were all ports of call up to the end of WWII. Having met in Austria would work, if your character'd've been there: 1929-1936 or so.

Let me know...

And a rakish boho ghoul would be cool, 'cept playing London is unlikely.

:-(

Cool; if you get no other offers, or'd prefer me to, I'm sure a ghoul wouldn't go amiss.
My Tremere genuinely is friendly, dammit! (Like, seriously, not in a "friendly Tremere" kinda way) -- I always envisaged him being friends with Toreador.
What's your email? We should discuss this elsewhere...

In a totally random manner, I stumble across this through Bringer of Flights friends list.
I'm outta the west coast of the US; but if you should ever need a Torrie tie-in out this way, my *coughcough14thgencough* toreador was in rural france for about the last 5 years. Raises ornamental fish for Art.
