Craft: newly-finished necklace

Red necklace I started making this quite a while ago and it's been lying on my bead board unfinished. I took a break from D H Lawrence this afternoon and finished it. It's a mixture of glass and reused metal beads on waxed linen cord, with a button and loop closure. Please look at the other photos of it in my 'craft' gallery, I'm really pleased with them. Have pity on their technical merits, though - they were taken either with the MacBook's webcam or with my camera with its champagne-damaged sensor and consequent blurry bits...

Button bead This is the bead which acts as a button to close the necklace at the back.

*grin* Thank you! Most of the glass beads I use are silver-foil-lined (the part around the hollow tube/hole in the middle has a silvery coating. But this one, and some of the others in the necklace, are *gold*-foil-lined, which gives a really different and very nice effect. The texture you can see along the tube of the bead is from the slight crinkledness of the foil when it's applied (I'm not an expert on the process so I could be wrong!)

I'm not certain exactly how it's done - I imagine the centre of the bead is formed first with the foil applied, and then molten glass is applied on top and worked to form the bead shape. One day maybe I'll have the opportunity to learn glass bead-making...

Oh I like it - I never thought of beading or making jewelry but I should. do you have a kit, or do you just get beads and string and do your own thing?

I do my own thing :) I have *far* too many beads at the moment. I sometimes sell things at a local art market - I've done that twice so far and it's fun, but I don't quite make enough to call it a business!

Got to ask you this as I've recently been thinking about starting up my crafting again. Do you sell things like this?
Where would you sell them if you did, ebay?
I know I can sell my Malas on ebay, but I don't know about home made normal jewelry...

I've never sold this stuff online. I have twice taken a stall at the Art Market at the Rising Sun centre - I haven't made a noticeable profit that way but it's fun to do. You can probably sell on eBay. I might in future set up my own online shop or consider using Etsy (but it's US-based which is annoying).
