Everyone should be made aware of The Magic Pen Game. The idea is to get the red circle or square to the flag by drawing shapes with the pen; the shapes obey the basic laws of physics. It is HUGE FUN. Try it. You can be as competitive or uncompetitive as you like about it - the scoring mechanism is 'how many shapes to get to the end of the game (level 26)?' - the one time I have finished it it took me 829. :)

This game is a blatant, blatant ripoff of Crayon Physics Deluxe (http://www.kloonigames.com/crayon/), which won the grand prize at IGF 2008 (http://www.igf.com/02finalists.html).

Not that I blame you for linking to it, but it's a sad thing that this kind of plagiarism goes on. And with ads up on their page too! Weak sauce.

Yes, I certainly don't feel anyone shouldn't be playing it (particularly Linux people).

(Crayon Physics is not the same as Crayon Physics Deluxe - it's a prototype that was written in a single month as part of Petri's one-game-per-month project.)

Your confusion is quite justified!

This is normal with the IGF. The idea is that the prize money can help fund development (which is often a tricky business for indie developers) and the publicity can help them find distribution deals (such as ports to XBLA or WiiWare).

That's properly lovely that is. Once I'd realised that you could pin/pivot objects together (without an X being on the screen) and including the red ball/box..then it went like a dream.

I've just finished all the levels and I'm suffering withdrawal symptoms now :(
