Well, I'm back in Oxford for a while - till Friday anyway. Holiday in Verona was nice, though, as I reported at the time, squashed, hot and occasionnally grumpy. We now have my grandmother staying with us, which is odd, as we've lived in our house 20 years and this is the first time she's seen it.

Dammit, why is this house so hot? I guess it muct be the weather.

I'm sorry if I've been out of touch with people - the computer monitor at home broke, so we haven't been able to use it at all and I've only just checked email. If I don't reply to something you wanted an answer to, do send it again, I may lose track of stuff.

I had forgotten what a mess I'd left this room in after doing all my packing - it's appalling and rather disheartening. Doesn't feel much like home yet. I now have a second chest of drawers - I'm *hoping* everything will fit in when I bring my new bookcase too *and* a desk. If not, it might have to go in the garage :-/

Tomorrow I have counselling, and on Friday I am off to Cambridge to Christi's birthday. I've just realised I don't know if I replied and said I wanted crash space. I *do* need somewhere to sleep in Cambridge if anyone can offer it. I'm off the following morning back to London, where I'll stay till Monday, and come back to Oxford in the car with the furniture and my grandmother then.

Oh yeah, in other news, I don'thave a job to go back to after all, partly due to the Tax office being really weird and asking my employers for forms which suggested I had found something else. WEIRD. Anyway, I have to hoick my CV about again. Yay me. I thiknk I'll not worry too much till after BiCon to be honest - that's the weekend of the 16th. I'll probably take it into Brook Street before then, and maybe Reed, but I don't really have the time or energy for lots of agency tests and interviews yet.

Oh, tomorrow (Thurs) 7pm, Ultimate Picture Palace cinema (Jeune Street, Oxford) I'll be seeing the final showing of 'Bend It Like Beckham' if anyone would like to join me. Call or just meet me outside - I probably won't check email beforehand.

Yay!

I think I may have encountered this dip at another of Christi's parties, I guess it must have been the housewarming. Am I right in remembering it's mostly yoghurt based? If so is there any chance that very low fat yoghurt (like the Tesco Healthy Eating one which comes in nice big pots) would work? I know it's a bit of an odd request coming from someone who doesn't even know you, but I was very impressed with the dip last time, and it'd be nice to be able to eat as much of it as I liked :-) Stupid diet sometimes, but I'm being good this month.

In fact any chance of a recipe? Or is it a closely guarded secret?

I was at the housewarming as well but left early, I seem to remember you. :o)

Hm, I usually find that reduced/low fat things tend be different in texture which I don't like.
I'll see what I can do. And yes, the base is Greek yoghurt and fromage frais.

There's a link to the recipe on my LJ profile page (well, the base recipe, there are one or two minor secret ingredients ;o) and if you want, you can add "Dippadoom" to your LJ interests...

Cool, thanks for the recipe, I'd certainly be able to make my own based on that (I've made similar anyway). I know what you mean about usually thinner, and it is a bit of a nuisance.

It did indeed turn out runnier but should be fine.

Damn, shame I'm in the wrong city, I really fancied seeing that film but it wasn't quite rjk's cup of tea.

If you don't manage to find crash space tomorrow you're certainly welcome to crash at ours, although it's a bit of a hike back from Christi's.

"tax office being weird" are you sure your evil boss isn't just shitting you here and trying to make up excuses? Good luck with the job hunting round anyway. I hope it isn't too painful this time, and putting it off a couple of weeks to enjoy bicon is understandable if you can afford it. Hope you can afford it.

Glad you had a good break.

I'm not in Cambridge tommorow after about 2pm (damn damn damn), but that means if you need crash-space, my bomb-si^W^Wroom is unoccupied. Just ask my housemates...

There is crash space for you at mine. Not a problem.
