Date: Monday, 6 November 2006 09:26 pm (UTC)I would ask you to write about -
* Brownies in the 21st Century
* Some of the theoretical stuff you're learning in typography
* What it's like to go on a balloon ride
* A 'everyone should organise read-throughs and this is how I prepare for one' piece
* What it's like to have impaired hearing every day (general awareness raising)
And probably many other things, but *I* should be writing atm, so shall restrain myself.

Date: Tuesday, 7 November 2006 09:02 am (UTC)(Although "Brownies in the 21st Century" still sounds rather futuristic to me, like they'll be wearing brown lamé jumpsuits and taking Hovercar Maintenance badges. I just mean "Brownies in the Present Day, As Compared with What They Were Like When I Was a Kid".)

Date: Tuesday, 7 November 2006 10:04 am (UTC)Given that the user activity is grouped by age and postcode, it makes an ideal marketing and government surveillance device for the people running it.
I set up an account last night to send a message to someone (as they "don't use email") so I'm now a member (not by choice). The "Microsoft Word" phenomena is apparent - to read and edit word document you have been sent, you need a copy yourself.
Another annoying thing is that people are trying to add me to their 'friends' list within minutes of joining. It seems odd because I don't know who they are and they don't know me. Are people's lives so empty that they have to leap onto the first stranger that arrives in the door?
Anyway, I'm sure there's a 2000 word article on the strange phenomena on-line social networks, and rather topical given how quickly these things seem to arise..

Date: Tuesday, 7 November 2006 02:33 pm (UTC)I think it would be better to write a peice that was about, helping out with Children, generic it up a bit, and draw on your Brownie-fu to make it more intresting, and to give personal experince.
Making the focus NOT Brownies to give it a more generic appeal?

Date: Tuesday, 7 November 2006 11:28 pm (UTC)I think badgers are interesting because they look so distinctive, and because culturally people believe they have certain character traits which make them appealing, like stubborness and friendliness, although this is not necessarily actually true. But there are lots of other interesting animals out there. I noticed you have a lot of animal pictures for user-icons. Do you have a favourite animal?
