I won't be going to Bardcamp this year, as I cannot stand to be around borusa, libellum or elise for the required period, let alone act with them (unless I get to use live steel weapons, of course, in which case, bring it on!). I wish it understood that this is all Robert's damn fault, and that I am very miserable about it. If you have any kindness in your being please keep your discussions of Bardcamp out of my ken, both before and after the event. I really don't want to know how much fun it all is.

If anyone can suggest anything else distracting I could be doing over the weekend of 5-8 Janunary, do let me know.

I vaguely remember someone asking us to block ebuddy.com since it was a workaround that allowed you to run messenger over http - possibly worth a try <-:

Googletalk might be an option. Not for MSN obviously but for chatting. I believe it has a web based interface that would work. Of course, I suspect you are in the library becasue you should be doing some work or something?

And I'm sure as everybody else has said some amusement could be provided if you need it.

As it turns out, the library computers have Messenger installed anyway.

Alternatively, in IE and most Firefox, webmessenger.msn.com usally works nicely (or, y'know, gets eaten by pop-up blockers).

Hotmail has a baby MSN function without any downloading required.

Not that I get to see it any more, since UI use the LiveMail Beta instead (mostly nicer than hotmail, but doesn't have a messenger-tyope thing attached...)

Oh, nothing new. Going to Bardcamp was always conditional on my being able to be around the three of them for a weekend without making myself and everyone around me miserable, and it's become clear that won't be the case. If I can't even fill in the casting form without getting all anxious and miserable about it, it's just not going to happen. But it's plainly all Robert's fault for being a bastard in the first place.

what is "bardcamp"?

A Shakespeare marathon weekend a large group of my friends have organised for the last two years. Eight plays in a weekend in a converted chapel in Derbyshire. Last year my highlight part was Juliet's Nurse. I am more unhappy than I can possibly express at the prospect of missing it in 2007.

That weekend is a zeitgeist weekend - there will be garou and cam-anarch games going on. I know it's all rp-y and geeky, but I'm sure you'd be welcome and it's a very different crowd to the bardcamp crew, as far as I know.
