Went to see Ocean's 11 at the UPP with Chris yesterday. It was cool, I'm realy glad I saw it, and I'm so grateful to Chris for coming along - it's just not the same without someone to bounce at afterwards. Real star-studded cast, fabulous performances, and a plot that actually did have me pretty much engrossed all the way through. Plus some very nice camerawork in places.

This morning, though, I woke up at 5am feeling nauseous, with a sore throat. I spent half an hour rummaging for painkillers, and eventually unearthed some soluble aspirin, which I hate, but drank anyway. It worked, I got about an hour of extra sleep before my alarm, and I actually managed to be fairly sane and normal at work. I've even got started on sorting the utility bills, which is a job that's been hanging over me for a while. I can still feel something is wrong with my throat, but I bought some ibuprofen earlier and took a couple at work, so it's not too bad. I'm just a bit tired.

Oh yes, I bought piles of fruit too - I suspect one reason I'm feeling run-down is that I haven't been shopping recently and had totally run out of fresh fruit and veg - not eaten almost any for three days or so, which is very unusual for me. Now, though, I have grapes, cherries, satsumas, apples, two kinds of tomatoes - I think this is pretty good going.

I still don't know what I'm doing tomorrow - Pride or the zoo. I have heard back from my old friend William, who says he might well go but is annoyingly non-specific about it. Knowing him, I don't want to risk making loads of preparations (Yuricon banner and flyers, outfit, etc.) and then not have it happen after all - or, worse still, get there and then find he's changed his mind or his plans or something. All very confusing. If I haven't heard by about 4 I might try phoning his mother to get a contact number for him.

I saw a play review in the Daily Information today which looks rather interesting. It's 'I Have Before Me a Remarkable Document Given To Me By a Young Lady From Rwanda' by Sonja Linden, at the Burton Taylor only till tomorrow. Rave reviews, probably sold out. I'm interested in seeing it (I've decided I ought to DO more STUFF, since I'm in Oxford, cultural mecca and all-round fabby place to be, and never take advantage of it) but then again, I was awake at 5 this morning, and I can feel a headache starting. And it means making a phonecall to check tickets.

Why do I hate making phonecalls so much? Surely it's not normal?

If it's a sore throat you might find that gargling with the soluble aspirin might help more than just taking it normally. About the only good use for soluble painkillers once you've got the hang of swallowing tablets IME.

I hate making phone calls too. Even to friends. Which is a shame because it means I lose touch sometimes.

Dequacaine is wonderful for sore throats.

I hate 'phone calls too. I can just about cope with them to people I know, but I hate ringing up random people.

As to sore throats - dissolving 2-3xnormal quantities of soluble asprin in warm water (and *not* swallowing it) to gargle is really quite effective for sore throats.
