New Year check-in

Hi all. I have been completely offline since just before Christmas, and I'm not sure how much catching up I'll be able to do. If you've posted something you would like me to see, do let me know and I'll make a point of reading it. I hope you've all had a fun winter break, whatever festival you may or may not have been celebrating; I've had a really nice Christmas and New Year holiday.
I am still in London at the moment. I will be in Reading probably from tomorrow evening, and back at work on the 4th. Then I'm away again next weekend. I don't think I have any outstanding social arrangements at the moment, but please correct me if I'm wrong.
I haven't made any big resolutions but I have some obvious things to get done this year, like losing weight, becoming a full-time student and tackling the house, so I'm trying to come up with a plan of action.
I have realised, thanks to some frank friends, that I often don't pay enough attention to the people I'd like to stay close to, rather assuming that they'll just be there when I'm ready to come back to them. I am lucky enough to have a lot of friends who *will* wait around for me like that, but I shouldn't take people for granted. So just before Christmas I removed some names from my reading list; that's not because I had anything against those people, just that I need to focus for a while on using LJ to keep in touch with offline friends I could otherwise lose. I do recognise that this could be taken personally, and I'm sorry about that.
I'll be cutting down on communities and random browsing quite a bit too. I need to be able to actually read what my friends are saying, instead of just skimming without time to comment in detail.
Anyway, enough blather. I hope 2006 is better than 2005 for you all.
