Well, here I am, and it's 2005. Last night was spent, as last year, chez la famille Beha in Kentish Town (they're old family friends of Robert's). The party was excellent fun as usual and I was on the winning team for both the charades and the music quiz (I know far too much about the crappy pop music of 1999).

I'm not going to review 2004 because it would take me about a sentence and be deeply depressing, and you all know what happened anyway. The good stuff was good, but the bad stuff was unbelievably appalling. Thanks to those who were part of the good stuff and/or supportive in the bad stuff. Let's leave it at that.

I'm currently cogitating in respect of the custom of New Year's Resolutions. I'm not going to make any right now, but I might make a list of Things I Kind Of Ought To Do, and then narrow it down a bit over the next few weeks.

Basically, in 2005 I would like to:

  1. Lose some weight.

  2. Achieve a tidy, attractive, usable house to which guests can be welcomed.

  3. Keep records of the things I read.

  4. Complete my current courses of study and begin a degree.

  5. Travel, ideally abroad, even if not very far or for very long.

  6. Rekindle old friendships and strengthen newer and current ones. Actually arrange to see people more.

  7. Get a bit more serious about the creative stuff/artwork I do, and try to grow and develop in that area.

I think that makes sense. Comments?

Sorry I haven't been writing much recently - I haven't felt like I had a lot to say. There are things going on in my head, but they aren't things I want to talk about to a wide group of people, for all sorts of reasons. Some things are justprivate, you know? Anyway, if anything were to come of them it would become known, so all in good time.

I fervently hope that you all have a peaceful, happy, safe 2005 in which only good things happen to you.

With the tidy house thing - have you been previously pointed at flylady? Might be worth a look - it's a bit twee in parts but there's some useful ideas etc.

Happy New Year!

I don't know. Yes, it's sickeningly cute, but I've just been stuck there for an hour.

I'm trying to blitz the flat at present. I'm already doing some of that stuff and I thought it had some good ideas.

Mind you, I could easily throw away 27 beer cans in five minutes most weekends....

Sorry for repeating myself!

I don't shine the sink (but do attempt not to leave washing-up overnight, & it does make me happier in the morning to see the kitchen clean rather than full of dirty stuff, which is nice). The cutesiness is irritating, indeed. The 'doing 15 min at a time' & the 'throwing things away' might work OK for aggressive-burgled-status, as ideas. I've certainly found that 15min of picking stuff up can do a lot more than I would have thought it would; and I'm getting *very* into THROWING THINGS AWAY

hmmm. march is busier. i can do 5th or 19th if either of those dates are any good?

unless you'd like to wait until nearer the time? but i am aware that weekends can fill up quickly for us.

we could put the plan on longer term hold if you prefer?
