... goffic people, who's going to the Dark Masquerade Ball in Oxford on January 21? I'm interested in going but I'd want to be sure other people I knew would be there too :)
Actually, the Ox Tube runs all night, so going back to London is entirely possible.
Am contemplating it, primarily as an excuse to wear my nice red velvet ball dress which I haven't worn since I left college. Kitty is probably up for it, though god knows what he'd be prepared to *wear* along those lines...
We get Kitty in all black and a very fancy mask I reckon - mmmmmmmm. More tempted if you guys are going of course. Actually I had thought of taking a room at the Randoph for an Unseelie after party - must find out price.
I'll talk to K on Monday when he gets back from Cornwall & see what he reckons. We should probably decide fairly soon cos they claim to be selling out (though obv discount this by about 50% since you *always* claim that when selling tickets of any variety).
It all does look *terribly* poncey/pretentious, but then I am very fond of my ball dress & have been looking for an excuse to wear it for ages :-)
[random link-hopping note: one of the dress-hire places they give links to from the ball webpage charge upwards of £80 just for *hire*. Both my ball dresses together cost less than that! Blimey. Though admittedly both were on sale.]
B-Movie with fancy clothes, basically. I like B-Movie but I stick to jeans & T-shirt because I look like a prat in fancy clothes... and ever tried to pummel sweaty punks in a cloak?
I fail to see how it will resemble B Movie in any way, other than having Sexbat as a DJ. The venue just isn't conducive to a B Movie style atmosphere. Plus the text on the page makes it sound like some kind of sodding Otherkin convention, in which case the only way I'm turning up is with a handful of molotov cocktails...
You know, I'm certain there's a massive Republican / otherkin crossover in the US. Pretty much every subculture over there seems to be alarmingly right-wing, which goes against logic in so many ways, but what do you expect from people who think they're bastard fairies?
I'm not going to be there, but Chris, obviously, will be, since he's an organiser! Also a few of the Camgoths will be there, if you know any of them - such as (I think), davefish, keris, surje and casilda.
It's the other Lucy from Shards (Danan), erm I hope you don't mind but I had a link to your Journal. I was wondering if you were going to go to this Masquerade Ball after all? I've had a look at the link you posted and I'm extremely tempted to go myself, I haven't been to a traditional Goth event for a long time :) Me and Jeff are only in Swindon so it's a really quick hop to Oxford, and you'd be someone we knew. :D
I'm leaning towards going, as a bunch of people I know will be there after all, but I can't buy a ticket yet as I have no money whatsoever, and I'll want to have a chat to Robert about whether he'd like to come. But as far as I can tell right now, yes, I'm going. It would be great to see you there :)
