I have a weird problem with my new Mexx skirt. It's pleated at the front and not at the back. The front pleats are fairly lightly held together at the bottom corners with a few turns of thread sewn through. I can't decide whether opr not it's just a basting stitch. As it is, when one moves in the skirt the pleats move at the top but stay stuck flat at the bottom, which is slightly odd. I'm not sure whether I should remove the thread or not. It wouldn't be the end of the world if I did and shouldn't've - I can re-sew it easily. But I couldn't do that in time for this evening, really, so I don't know whether I should try it today or not. If I undo the pleats, will it look odd being pleated at the front and flat at the back?

Comment if you feel able :)

It sounds like its basting to hold the pleats flat in the shop, its a bit similar to getting clothes with the pockets stitched up etc.

You should definitely undo the stitches. Definitely.

I'd undo the stitches - I suspect they were probably just to keep the line of the pleats in the shop.

Who are you worried about thinking it will look odd?

I think you should remove the stitches. I've seen several skirts that are pleated at the front only.
