Tra la la, I am all clean and sparkly. I have called a local dentist which seems to be taking NHS patients but the receptionist was crap and gave me no information on whether or not they have any services for anxious patients (seemed to be very confused by the question). I'll keep thinking about that one

I am compiling camping recipes for Shards event over Easter. Could my vegetarian mates suggest nice things they would like to eat which can be prepared with very limited cooking equipment? There'll be one gas ring and a campfire, and possible not much else. I'm doing well on the bacon, beans, tuna salad kind of front but need more vegetarian ideas which are not all cheese or vegetable soup. You needn't give me a recipe if you don't have one, I'll find them - I just want inspiration!

Well, some dentists do exta stuff to calm very nervous people down :) Sometimes you can get sedation rather than a local anaesthetic, or similar; or they might just take more time to explain what's going on than they would otherwise. But quite a lot of practices do list it as a particular thing they deal with, so I was surprised this one seemed to have no idea about it at all. This practice seems to be the closest one which is taking NHS patients so I might just go there anyway for a checkup. And then run away again before they can get out the drills.

Well, I wouldn't assume that just because they don't explicitly call it that that it means they aren't going to be nice. In my experience dentists can be very good without having to go that little bit extra, sometimes they just are. Let him/her know before you start that you are nervous and ask them to be considerate of this. I'm sure they will be.

Vegetable kebabs? Just shove loads of bits of mushrooms, peppers, onion etc on a stick & heat on a rack above the campfire til they look done or perhaps more safely wrap in foil & heat in the embers. Can do a marinade of olive oil, finely chopped or crushed garlic, & any herbs anyones brought as well, which makes them moister.

You're also supposed to be able to do baked potatoes in campfire embers but I've never tried it.
