i ahve a letter from the director of information services; i have a meeting to follow up my grievance leter on 14 April! Yay! i mist check whether i can ask someone to accompany me - i think i can.
How do you mean, appropriately legally qualified? I am considering asking a colleague who is the library Unison rep (although I'm not a member) if she would be willing to come with me. I think it might be difficult for her to do that, though. I'm not sure who else would be good to ask.
Both the employee bringing the grievance and the employee against whom a grievance is lodged will have the right to be accompanied by a work colleague or Trade Union representative of his/her choice at any grievance hearing.
So it'll have to be a work colleague. Can't think of anyone but aforementioned Unison rep who would be any good. Hesitate to get her further embroiled in conflict with boss, though.
by law you can have a union represenative, lawyer or colleague with you. They may allow someone else, but not usually a partner or family member because of emotions being involved. Do also ask for a copy ofall minutes of the meeting. And good luck!
