For those who've been asking:

I have no known allergies. The temperature may be an issue. I slept okay on the sofa-futon in the study which has got to be dustier than the bed. The position was a problem there, though.

I don't know really. I am sleeping with two pillows and a cushion though I could probably do with more if I had them. I am going to try and go to sleep early tonight with the help of some Nytol. I am just waiting for Robert to get back.

I suspect part of it is by this point you associate coughing/not sleeping/general misery with the bed, which exacerbates things; I've heard more than once that if you've been having trouble sleeping, you should find someplace else to sleep. It could be less dust and whatnot and more a subconscious thing.
