no subject

Why must it get worse? I have a rash under my left breast (no, it isn't meningitis, I have checked) and a medium-severe pain in about the same place which makes it hell to breathe, cough etc. I feel like there's something stuck in my throat which makes swallowing unpleasant, and I'm hoarse and sore and tired and hot and nauseous.

WHY? Does someone think I haven't had enough of this yet? When am I allowed to actually GET BETTER? What did I do?

hmm, but i would get the doc to check that out next time you go. could be some kind of inflammation or damage or something like that. doesn't sound good.

*nod* I was hhoping not to have to go again, given that I went this morning. I think it is heat rash and a pulled muscle in my chest wall, but if I get any of the other symptoms they keep asking about (wheezing, or blood in the phlegm, for example) then I will go and throw myself at medical people again. Probably with a big sign saying 'KILL ME NOW, I CAN'T COPE.'

failing that, give it a few days & then go back - or get the doc to homevisit. much easier for you. Its probably nothing to worry about like you said :)

Sounds like it might be further viral goodness, although it's hard to tell. If you're at all worried go back to the doctor tomorrow. It might be nothing, but if the flu has developed into something further it's worth having them check it out.

I think I'll wait and see if anything else turns up; wheezing or blood etc. I got checked over this morning and was given the all clear for any other weird stuff; I'd rather not go back a third time unless I know something more is going on.

It's the rash that makes me think 'eep', because it's not something you usually (ever, as far as I know) get with flu, or even things that flu can develop into easily. And you've been ill how long now? More than a week - flu (by itself) should be buggering off by now. If the rash is still there tomorrow call NHS direct, at least, and see what they say.

What does the rash look like, and what shape is it? Is it sore when you touch it?

it is a conglomeration of reddish blotches and spots, roughly circular overall, about the size of the palm of my hand, and centred on the crease under my left breast. I have been sitting about in loose PJs and no bra, and it's entirely on the bits of skin which rest together when I do that. it doesn't hurt if I touch it but if I *rub* it it's a bit sore. the area in general hurts constantly; a dull ache if I sit still, sharper pains if I cough or move or breathe.
