Big Update

It's not that long since my last post, but it feels like ages. I recovered quite fast from feeling ill, and on Thursday I had lots of things to do.

I had an appointment with a recruitment consultant from Spherion about a job. It is Assistant to the PA to the CEO of Energis. It's quite scary. Anyway, the interview with the agent went well, and she arranged for me to have an actual job interview with Energis' HR person the next day. More of that anon.

After my Spherion appointment, I wandered round the Oracle for an hour and ate an expensive but delicious lunch in Pret a Manger. Then I got on a train to Bracknell and visited Huntress Recruitment Specialists for their evaluation tests and a chat. That was good, no trouble, but tiring. I can type 59 words a minute at 98% accuracy, go me. I must have spoken to five different members of staff there, and got told I was underselling myself (on salary expectations). After an hour and a half I was out in the fresh air again and got the train back to Reading.

I dashed home, intending to grab bits of fabric and run out again, but I collapsed. I changed my clothes, ate a little food and more slowly got ready to visit [livejournal.com profile] mirabehn in Newbury. I got there much later than I had originally planned. It was a lovely evening, and I had delicious curry that Elly cooked and loved it :) Usually I'm not very keen on curry, but hers was great. I designed an angel costume with Mark and have now to try making it (erk).

Robert drove me home. The next day I had to get to Energis House for 12. I was there on time (25 minutes early, actually) and was thoroughly intimidated by the plush surroundings. Kelly, my interviewer, was very pleasant, and the interview itself didn't go too badly. I don't know that I'll be asked for a second interview - I think I looked nervous, and I don't have prior experience of a permanent job - but it was great interview practice if nothing else.

I hadn't eaten anything that morning (out of food) so I went to McDonalds afterwards for a McChicken Sandwich, which at that moment in time was The Most Glorious Food Possible. I was *so* hungry. I phoned Julie (the Spherion consultant) to report in, and then guiltily slipped over to Hobbycraft. I purchased piles of stuff for the LARP event I'm going to next weekend, and assorted other bits and pieces. Then I went home and collapsed. Earthdawn tabletop roleplay that evening was interrupted by me dissolving into tears in our meal break, and Robert taking me home, because I was just exhausted.

Today I have been making tribal-style bead things for the LARP event. I have produced a very passable Native American (North American First National, um, Kiowa, I think) hairtie, among other items. I have to make the darn clothes yet, which will be exciting. must wash fabric.

This evening is the Fame Academy Final. We have no doubt Alex will win. We have voted quite a lot. I am really tired. I don't have major plans for next week, except that I must do my Japanese homework ASAP as the next class is on Monday. We have seven people now so we might get two hours instead of an hour and a half.
