1) Because no matter how much you try to avoid it, you'll end up drawn into politics. 2) Because many STs don't trust the settings teams, and are resistant to suggestions made by them, adding a level of frustration to the job. 3) Because you don't have the specific knowledge the job requires.
1) I avoided politics 2) yep... unless you become friends with them all, which is difficult 3) I didn't have that either when I started, just had all the books and at the time the drive to do something.
Well, the Changeling Settings team do have the advantage of being nice people and not arguing with each other. We have a great boss and a brilliant bosses' boss. But it's true that GSA work has it's frustrations. Like having not much of an idea of what you're supposed to do half of the time and contending with the legacy of GSAs who feel it's their job to dictate to STs and players.
I think it's the kind of Cam work you would enjoy. It's very backroom and seems to involve making patchwork out of various disparate ideas, drawing them all together into a pleasing pattern.
Though, unfortunately, there's a strong possibility that all 'Ling jobs are on a short, fixed-term contract.
It depends, really. While I hate to crush any optimism still left within the Cam, it's been my experience that nothing one does it really appreciated, and your only reward for doing a job properly is to get flak from various sources. At the end of the day, you can put an awful lot in, and it's not clear what if anything you get back out. So my advice would be 'don't', but if you feel that there's something in it for you that's worth all that, then good on you and good luck. I just hope you don't end up as disillusioned as I did.
GSA is bad and wrong (which is why I've been resisting putting in an application for GSA Satyr). I've also heard from Kat that the new GRA Changeling (that I didn't even know we had) refers to things in vampire like terms, So grandeur becomes "That Majesty like power". This did not instill great confidence in me... But that could be a rumour, it's not first hand experience (since the Satyr team has basically plummeted into the depths of the great unknown).

Oh and the boss' boss is apparently a yorkshireman.... so beware... (says the lancastrian)
