Visit from cleaning company manager over - swift and painless. Total cost for what I want done - £120. Not bad at all. Will have to move stuff away from walls, get things a bit more sorted, so they can get at the walls and skirtingboards and so on, but that's all doable. I'll call them back, give them about a week's notice, and then we will have nice shiny house! Yay!

I doubt my mother would allow me to hire one, though.
