Rrrrrrrr. There seems to be nowhere findable online which sells what I need. I need a UK shop which will sell me ordinary cotton queen-size bed-sheets, preferably fitted. I'm having no luck. At this rate I'm going to have to buy king-size flat sheets and sew elastic onto them! All help welcomed, I'm really desperate. Colour unimportant - if they're plain white I could always dye them to match other bedding.

This is something that's always bugged me. Why are large things "king-sized"? Are kings particularly big people?

It's like man-sized tissues. Do men have distinctly larger noses to warrent the use of their name in this manner?

Not necessarily, but kings usually had a reputation for trying to fit lots and lots of women in their beds with them. Hence the need for a bigger bed...*grins*

ACcording to http://www.englishsilksheets.com/US%20Bed%20Sizes.htm the UK has no such thing as Queen size beds. Try checking by actual size rather than by name in case there is some ambiguity. Otherwise have you actually tried place like King's fabrics which I believe sell these sorts of thigns and I doubt has an online presence.

You're a woman aren't you? Aren't you meant to like going into town and wondering around thousands of shops looking for what you want? :)

John Lewis used to do them, as did Debenhams?

Larger tescos stores do a variety of sheets, well, mine does.

Boswells sell everything. If not ask in the fabric shop on New Inn Hall Street, they'll know.

There's a comprehensive-looking bedware shop in the Westgate Centre, opposite Whittards. Might be worth checking out.
