lots of bits
Monday, 20 January 2003 02:38 pmI haven't updated properly for ages. I seem to have been quite busy and very disorganised.
I have been going to Birmingham lots and lots, which is very nice. I have been rather neglecting other friends, though, which makes me feel bad, and I'm not sure how to deal with it.
I feel like I haven't seen my family for ages either, although I was there over Christmas. I suppose that is three weeks at least now, though, so it's not unreasonable. I haven't called my mother for a bit either. After the last conversation we had, where she morphed into an alternative-health freak, I didn't feel like another call expouinding on the virtues of a dairy-free diet. Roll on the Cheddar, that's what I say! Well, no, actually - I don't eat huge amounts of dairy - but last night while Iwas cooking ravioli I cut two slices of cheddar and ate them just au naturel. I felt rather guilty.
Last Wednesday I went to my first BSL class. I really enjoyed it and learnt quite a lot. I could already fingerspell (slowly, and with a rather bad style) which helped. I learnt quite a bit of vocabulary, including the sign for 'convention' when I wanted to say where I had had my first Sign lesson :)
I have pretty much failed to get on the modules at Brookes for this term. Even when I went to the Open Day I had already missed the deadline, so there was really no way it was ever practical. I only found this out at the end of December, though, and then could not contact the Theology field chair to ask about it. Anyway, I am going to investigate driving and guitar lessons to give myself Stuff To Do this term, and do modules next term.
My room is absolutely horrible at the moment. Maybe almost the worst it has ever been. Now I am all done with the handover at Mill Court, starting the new job, and hoicking myself to Brum and back over the weekend, I might manage to do some clearing up.
This is the first week of Full Term. After I finish work (about 3.30pm) I'm going to go over to college and check whether I still have a pigeonhole. Then I'm going to drop off a library book I thought I had lost a long time ago, and find out how much they want me to pay for it. Then I'll go to the Bursary and try to thrash out how much I owe college. Tomorrow, I shall take books back to the Theology library.
Evenings this week: Tuesday = Scottish dancing. Wednesday = BSL. Thursday = animesoc then the Taize service at Magdalen if I feel like it.
People, I'd really like to be sociable other than in Birmingham (note to Brum people - I love you all lots, but I need a varied diet!) but I'm being pathetic and not organising myself. If anyone has a burning desire to meet up with me and do fun stuff, in Oxford or elsewhere, give me a shout and I will be all pink and pleased.
