I should have said, obviously, that if people who actually personally deal with issues relating to race and trans* stuff want to have academic debates about it that's nothing to do with me. And if people who are disabled, queer or women want to have them, they totally can. I was objecting to people who are not part of these groups sitting back and talking them over without acknowledging the impact the issues have on people who are right there sitting in front of them. I didn't phrase that bit all that well!
