I just phoned the post office, and it seems that the item which wasn't delivered on 13 November because there was £1.02 owing on it is highly likely to be my diary! So, if I go up to Littlemore tomorrow morning before 12.30 (you up for that, Steve?) I can get it back!

Bear in mind this requires getting there before 12.30.

I'd recommend planning to leave at 10.30. Even earlier if you don't know quite where you need to go :P

I'm not sure that you can say it does work. Most people rarely get locked out. If that often. :)

I think the last time I got locked out of the house was over two years ago in ice station. And it wasn't properly locked out since I had a credit card anyway. :)

Oh, and I think caroline forgot a whole fiasco of handbag related things. :)

This is why I like my door.... It doesn't lock unless you look it, which means you always know if you have your keys when going out (mine are cunningly placed on my wallet for it saves time and effort ;) ). I just have to wonder about all of these people I sort of know who can ue credit cards to open doors....

I didn't get the card till the other day. I don't know if this is our mail-sorting system being crap, or a conspiracy to make me late for everything, but I only found the thing two days ago.

I'm sure the Lucy Faff is sacred. Mind-bendingly annoying, but intrinsic. If it's not faffing, it's not Lucy.

So how did you like Romania overall? I was just curious because I was born there, and moved to America @ age 4. I haven't been there since, and I'm sure there's been many changes. I want to go visit soon again, since most of my family lives there. Seems like your experience at Biai Mare was interesting, to say the least. Romania is a beautiful country, it's just economically struggling, and people are opressed because of that. But yeah, it was interesting finding someone that has background knowledge of Romania. Thanks for responding, do you think I can possibly add you to my friends list? I've always wanted to go to London..

I really loved Romania, and I too would like to go back. I took the time to learn a little of the language before I went, so I was able to do things like order drinks and ask simple questions, and I could understand the general topics people were talking about. Sase bere si doua Fanta, va rog :) (aargh, no appropriate accents on this computer!) I thought the countryside was beautiful, the weather was great (except for the sunburn aspect of things) and the people were friendly. Baia Mare itself isn't the most picturesque city in the world, but it was nice enough, and close to pleasant countryside; small villages, a river (Tirgu Lapus) and the Happy Cemetery.

My brain has probably papered over the bad bits - there were some, particularly the lack of sleep owing to the pain of the burns, and the sunstroke, and trying to speak English, French and Romanian all at once for at least 4-5 hours per day. In the end, though, I had a great experience, and I would particularly like to go back and see how Meda orphanage is doing - if the sandpit is still standing, whether Braita (one of the little girls) has moved on elsewhere yet, that sort of thing, and to help out again, if I could.
