I appear to have left my mp3 player in a black cab from Stockport station. If anyone has any bright ideas about how the hell I might contact any relevant person and retrieve it, I'd be most grateful. I'm having a really shitty week with technology (not only did I have to get my laptop power supply replaced, but I doused my phone in apple squash yesterday and had to buy a new one this afternoon) so I could really do without having to buy a new music player. I like it and would find it hard to manage without it. I feel so stupid.

you can call the council (details on the council website, there is a handy link for "lost something in a cab")and hope that he was an honest cabbie!

Are you sure you mean Stockport council and not Manchester? I can't find such a number on the Stockport council website...

try manchester council then. I think the black cabs are run by the same department in both.

if you got the cab from manchester call 0161 234 4917 (licensing unit)or email licensing@manchester.gov.uk. I can't find the number for the licensing unit in stockport council but Manchester council should be able to help you if you're not through to the right department.

It helps a LOT if you have the number of the cab. But black cabs are obliged to turn in lost property found in their cabs or they can lose their license.
