Shards/Ascendancy?

I believe some of you lovely people still play the Ascendancy LRP (Shards as was). I am thinking about coming to an event or something this year but am thoroughly confused by the 'campaigns' structure I see on the webpage. Could anyone explain the current setup to me? Can I book on just one event?

As has been explained to me there are a few main campaigns - plotlines - and they're split up so that people can work out which event/s to go to for the most bang for the buck. So yes you can do one event only - but if you want to do more and want to concentrate on one storyline then you can do that too!

I'm going to be attending events here and there rather than full campaign blocks (apart from the weeklong, which I can definitely commit to in it's entirety now that I have a Real Job), so you won't be the only one who hasn't a clue what's happening! :)

I'm basically thinking of playing a character who has an excuse not to be around much, so that I don't have to be at every event. I certainly can't afford either the money or annual leave to be at many.
