Business logo

I need a logotype for my putative business. The name is 'Hikari Arts', 'hikari' meaning 'light' in Japanese and connecting back to my name in English. I have used 'Arts' rather than 'Beads' or similar in case I want to sell cards or anything else later on. At the moment I'm just selling hand-made beaded jewellery and hair-clips.

I have played about with a few ideas and not come up with anything sensible yet. I want to be able to print, on horizontal-format labels, the business name with some kind of small illustrated detail to make it look nice, ideally connected to the name. It should be in black and white line-drawing, and the name itself should be in some simple cursive typeface.

Does anyone have any ideas? If you have an idea that I use, I'll give you credit on my website and buy you a drink. :)

I'm thinking a nice Japanese-style font for Hikari Arts (all on one line) with a non-Japanese-style sunrise or maybe a flower to the left. But I can't draw for shit.

Yes, having something as an interim while I wait for something interesting from you would work :)

Don't feel pressured by it - if you have any ideas, I'd love to see some sketches when you have time, but don't worry :)

Mmm, I looked into that and might do, but I don't want to go too Japanese with it - I think the name is enough and much more will confuse people or make it look like I have more Japanese connection or inspiration than I actually do.

Hee, that's fun! It feels a bit more, hrrrm, technological than I'm after - this is really a hand-made aesthetic. It's a fantastic idea, though, and I'd be interested to see what else you come up with :)

The first thing I thought of was a play on the light theme with a kind of sun effect on the i, sort of like this:
