News round-up
Wednesday, 22 December 2004 05:36 pmI'm sorry I haven't been updating much recently. Having a job, and hence not spending all day attached to a high-speed internet-capable laptop, has done a real hatchet-job on my LJ usage. I'm still reading, but not commenting quite as much, and I know I miss things.
I have now finished work for my Christmas break; I'm back in the office on 4th January, but I have the 7th and 10th off to go and read all Shakespeare's history plays in an old chapel in Derbyshire. I should have headed back to London this morning, but I've been tired and useless and I have barely got started on my packing and organising. I'll go late tonight, or perhaps early tomorrow morning.
The older of my two younger brothers has mumps. I think this means I have to get vaccinated, as I would have had only one injection as a baby rather than the two which are needed for full protection. More nightmarish stuff to sort out tomorrow. I have to get presents for both my brothers, and finish acquiring Robert's Christmas gift, and sort out assorted other bits and bobs, and finish making a Christmas stocking.
Work have very tentatively (they don't have financial approval yet) suggested offering me a fixed-term contract until next September; no info on pay and hours yet, but it would include some additional duties which sound quite interesting. I have the break to think about it. I'll probably go for it if they offer it, depending on the hours/pay. At the moment I theoretically work part-time, but I do lots more than my formal hours and get paid for all of it, as a temp. I wouldn't want to take on a part-time contract which actually meant nearly full-time!
I am very tired and listless this evening. I don't know why, as I've done next to nothing all day. Facing up to prospect of Christmas as a family of four, perhaps.
