Weekend report, blah blah blah
Monday, 4 October 2004 08:07 pmI am BACK from my weekend AWAY. I don't know, I go off-LJ for TWO DAYS and I have to skip=360 when I get back. You people do write, don't you?
So yes, on Saturday we celebrated Robert's father's 60th, which was very nice indeed, with pleasant people and lovely food and some excellent conversations with Beth and Dave in particular, about jobs and sci-fi and films and San Francicso and things. Yay!
On Sunday my godmother Cathy was ordained a deacon (she's Anglican); it was a very joyful service and I was glad to have been there. The reception afterwards was also good, though rather full of people. I hung around with my family for the rest of the day, and had a Chinese takeaway in the evening. Interesting family stuff went on; it's weird having all other family members be all male and therefore odd.
Today, I went out to buy a new rucksack. My ex-rucksack was about twenty-five years old, having belonged to my aunt when she was younger than I am now, and the zip had irretrievably broken. It was a very big rucksack, as many of my friends will know. :) I was horrified to find that comparable rucksacks (around the 40 to 45 litre mark) cost over fifty quid, which I just can't afford. So I bought a 25-litre rucksack for 25 quid, plus a little torch/lantern gadget for camping and a stepometer (which currently reads 05370 since lunchtime - is that good?). I'll just have to travel light. A-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
Then I went back to my dad's to pack and set off, a little late, for Clapham to meet William (the younget son of aforementioned godmother Cathy) for a drink. We went to the posh organic supermarket where I purchased drink and sandwich and crisps, and went and lazed around on Clapham Common for a couple of hours, and just chilled out and caught up, which was ACE. I jumped on the train direct to Reading at half-four, and arrived back here in good time for my yoga class. Of course, I haven't gone to it because my only suitable trousers are dirty. Crap excuse, but I currently don't care. I'll do some BSL practice in preparation for tomorrow (I'll have to work out how to say 'I'm sorry I wasn't here last week!') and try to relax.
