Gosh, right, it is five in the afternoon already, and I'm not wearing sensible clothes yet. Too hot!

Yesterday was Julius Caesar readthrough and Ancient World party. I am not very good at doing comprehensive reviews of these things. I completed two Roman costumes (one toga, one pair of Roman laced shoes, tunica, stola with fibulae and palla) in about an hour before heading to Newbury at 1. All very hot. Play was excellent, Robert was most wonderful as Marcus Antonius, and Davidspindlemere was great as Caesar. Readthrough happened in park, and many yummy crisps were eaten. Then party. Balloon fight. The more balloons there were, the more overexcited and giggly I seemed to get. Had to leave room to calm down after a while. Very funny. Love balloons.

Got into costume, very hot, people seemed to like it, photos were taken. Got hair looking sensibly Roman, which was a bonus. Elly made a lovely Cleopatra, and Kathryn's dress did do what Jon said it did in an extremely attractive way. Martin was a very creative druid with a bacofoil sickle.

During the pass the parcel I became the goddess of Wisdom, Bats, Frogs, Fruitcake, Last-Minute Decisions and Late Trains. The appropriate tribute is either fruitcakes (containing no nuts or glace cherries - these so-called foodstuffs are condemned by divine fiat) or packets of chocolate raisins. I expect my devotees to render prompt tribute weekly with the requisite obeisance.

Then there were board games - I beat Kathryn by a dice-roll at TABVLA, during which we had many enthusiastic and highly involved spectators, and then Nick at the Viking Game (but that was more of a test run as the tactics are complex and neither of us had played it before). Soon after this began the snuggling and curling with many people, and some complicated bargaining in relation to Robert stroking Mark's hair which led to many women deciding to snog me as a bribe. They forgot to ask me first, but I didn't actually consider protesting.

Then Robert and I had to leave because it was one o'clock in the morning! And we came home and Robert packed his bag and there was Sleep.

This morning Robert went off for his wherry holiday; he's away till next Sunday, and he'll be coming straight from the wherry to the Becket party in Cambridge. So I'll be without him for a week, and will need people to entertain me in the meantime.

Specifically, I want someone to come to Dreamspace in Dulwich with me, in the daytime or early evening (while it's light), before Sunday. There may be other things too, but I've got to look at my diary and correspond with people I've already got tentative arrangements with before I sort out anything else. (Note to self - get creche numbers for Sophy.)

I ought to head back to Wimbledon but it's just too hot to put on my jeans and t-shirt. Aaaaargh.
