I scalded my torso badly in the shower last night - it's just shading into a second-degree burn, but it covers a wide area. I have had invaluable support and looking-after from ladyfrances and crocodlewings. We called NHS Direct and the advice was to go to A&E in the morning to get it dressed. Lucy and I have just woken up, so we are probably heading off there shortly. I am ok. It hurt a lot and I was very wobbly last night, but after a night covered in frozen vegetables it feels much better and is generally no more than uncomfortable. I will probably be online later, I can't say for sure. I think I am going to be fairly immobile this weekend letting it recover. Fortunately I think I have no plans.

My phone is out of commission as it is out of charge and I have lost the charger, so trying to call me is futile right now. Rikk may be able to buy me a new one today, and I'll post if that works out.

I am back from A&E! The worst affected bit is the bottom of my left breast, which probably took the first gush of the water; it's blistering and the skin which isn't coming away is very fragile. So that's been bandaged up; it's like wearing half a bra and I am all lopsided! Totherlucy came with me and kept me company, which was great, and I have bought lots of snackyfood to keep me going. I have a pile of Cadfael novels to reread, and I am very perky, because I feel SO much better than last night. I was in a real state when it happened, and I have no idea what I would have done if Rikk hadn't come over. None of my housemates were in and my phone is dead, so I'd probably have wound up half-naked in the street trying to call ambulances from the phone box down the road...

Anyway, I have a bandage, I have paraffin jelly to rub on, I have to take lots of paracetamol, and I'm to go back around 9/10am on Sunday to have it re-dressed. It'll take a little while to heal, but I ought to be able to do most things as usual next week if I'm careful. Washing will be a bit exciting...

I have found my phone charger! I am once again phoneable!

I have books to read and sandwiches at will. I have spoken to my father and my brothers. I have had fun conversations with friends and beloveds. I have tasty orange juice and painkillers. I have an extension on the essay I was supposed to hand in today. I have emailed the landlady about the shower and had an immediate response. I am in only mild discomfort. Things are good.

I am marked away on IM, but I will hear if you message me, so do drop a line if you really want to talk - I'm less than a foot from my keyboard. I'm going to curl up and read now, and eat chocolate and ham sandwiches :)
