Domesticity

I'm going to be waiting in for workmen for the next few days! I have just had the plumber in to descale the hot water system, and that's all done but it turns out it hasn't fixed our boiler problem, so we have to have British Gas back for a second time and they're coming tomorrow between 12 and 6. I've just said goodbye to the chappie who came to look at the washer-dryer (second visit) and he's repaired it temporarily but the documentation was screwed up so he doesn't have the parts - he'll have to come back on Wednesday and repair it properly. Domestic saga! Argh! :) I predict, as of now, one further visit for the washer and two at least for the boiler because they'll have to come, diagnose it, then come back with the parts to fix it. And that assumes the parts are all ordered right and so on. My job-hunting trips to town are going to be curtailed a bit.

I've got the forms for the job with RACC I'm applying for. It's a receptionist/admin job, one year maternity cover, and it's just down the road, which is really cool :) I think I'd really enjoy it, and hopefully my osteopathy job is good experience for it. They don't let you send in a CV so I must pay really close attention to the application form.

Grr.

Have just read through in depth the forms which arrived a day or two ago for the other job I want to apply for - Learner Services Admin for the Reading Adult and Community College. Two problems. Although it is literally round the corner from me, the person spec includes 'Must be a car owner and in possession of a clean driving licence'. I don't drive. I don't even ride a bike. Second, they'd like some experience of managing and supervising people, since the job involves being in charge of some caretaker people and evening teaching staff. I don't have that in any official sense, though I've organised school clubs and stuff in my time.

I felt yesterday the job might be just right for me, especially as it's only for one year as maternity cover. (Complicated reasons why I think that's good, but for now let's just say it is.) Now, I'm really quite disheartened. I wish I knew why they wanted driving licence. :(
