Have just been watching news. Camp Delta in Guantanamo Bay still active. 18 months on, hundreds of men still detained by the US without charge, without access to family or legal help, and without any idea when their situation might change. Can't believe US as a whole can style itself as some kind of heroic defender of civilised values when this kind of barbarism is going on. Conditions at camp seem to have improved since Camp X-ray, but reporters are not allowed to speak to inmates (reminds me of various bits from Mandela's 'Long Walk to Freedon' during his imprisonment on Robben Island) and Amnesty International has been categorically denied access.

Might have to join Amnesty and get letter-writing. I just can't *believe* this is *still* happenning.

And in other news...

Did BSL stage 1 exam on Wednesday. I think it went quite well. I got a bit flustered at the start and had trouble recognising when the examiner was indicating changeover between parts of the exam. I made a few mistakes on signs for 'water' and 'flower' in the storytelling part; and I completely failed to understand one question in the Q&A section. Otherwise, It hink I did ok. I hope I passed. I find out in September.

I had my final counselling session on Thursday. That went very well. I have come such a long way int he 18 months or so since I started having counselling. I will miss it in some ways because it has been very helpful to know I have somewhere to go and express whatever I'm worrying about, and be helped to understand it. On the other hand, I have been chafing at the restriction of my time for some while now, and it will be nice to make a fresh start in Reading.

Have many plans to make and things to do.

much cleaning happened. library did not happen. Dead ants happened. Broken nails happened, need to grow them again. Food happened. Sleep is about to happen. night all.
