I have just done a little web research and it looks as if, should I mov in where I think I'm moving in in July, I shall be about 10 minutes walk from Temple Cowley pools! Yay! Swimming!
I was just thinking, you see, having read
bateleur's entry about weight, that I ought to do more exercise, and the cutting down on chocolate and fatty stuff is more for health than for weight reasons. I plan to keep doing Scottish dancing, but that's only one evening per week, and I need to do more than that.
Since I can't ride a bicycle (balance problems) from July I'll need to use the bus or walk a lot more - and because of my issues with punctuality it's likely to be the bus. I could get a tricycle, but I have no road awareness, having been a passenger all my life, and I'm also partially deaf - the thought of negotiating Oxford's cycle lanes on a thing the size of a tricycle is quite intimidating.
So living so far away from the centre is likely to mean less exercise, not more - so a swimming pool close by is fabulous news :) I shall have to go and buy a swimming costume very soon :)
With luck, I'll be able to work it into my routine, and set aside one afternoon or evening a week to go swimming - or even two. We'll see how it goes.
