I have to get to Abingdon Business Park for 10am tomorrow. Anyone got a clue about buses? The Stagecoach website is not very helpful. I may resort to telephoning them. I just really need a route map...
The Abingdon buses are run mostly by the oxford bus company. So http://www.oxfordbus.co.uk/new/bus-services.htm The express ones are the X3 and the slower ones are no 4.
The X3 goes down Abingdon Road and then the A34; you'd be best off getting a bus down Donnington Bridge Road and changing at the junction with Abingdon Road. More hassle from your place than just getting a 4, but probably quite a bit faster.
There's also the 35 and 35A, which go down Abingdon Road then through Kennington and Radley, and some Stagecoach buses (32?).
They go from St. Aldate's, ignore timetables, just turn up in plenty of time and get on one. Ideally one with an X in front, but whatever. Which Business Park? Check the postcode with multimap and stuff.
Alternatively, from where you are it's a gorgeous cycle ride down through the village to Iffley Lock, and along the Thames Path into Abingdon via the marshes, or through Radley. I did it on Saturday, note.
Nice idea, except rthat I don't own and cannot ride a bicycle, as you well know.
Am stilll confused about buses. If I get to Reading station for 8.30, I'd get to Oxford just after 9, giving me an hour to get from there to Abingdon. I shouldn't need to go via home, I hope. I could get the X3 right from the railway station, but that goes (like all the buses) to central Abingdon, not to the western edge of it (Blacklands Way), which is where I need to be. Do you think I could get a taxi from the centre of Abingdon? How long would the bus take? Aaargh!
BTW, if coming from Reading by train, you may be better going to Didcot Parkway and getting a bus to Abingdon from there. But I know even less about the details of such buses.
