Sunday, 21 April 2002 09:16 amWow, no major entries for a while.
On Monday I went to Chris's to watch The Mummy with Chris'n'Krys, which was fun. Yes yes yes, they are fabulous :) And the film wasn't too scary, and anyway I had Chris's knees to hide behind if necessary. It was gener ally yay-fun.
Didn;t go dancing on Tuesday after all, I was feeling tired and not-good. Wednesday I was also collapsing.
Thursday, however, was busy, I went to work, and then at 1.30 had a, hmm, 'rendezvous' with a girl I met on oxfordromance.org. We hadn;t decided reazlly whether it was going to be a date thing or a friends thing, and as it tuned out, it was the latter. She's very nice, and we'll be seeing more of each other in the future. She has finals though, so not sure when.
After that, I went to the doctor, and got a medical report for college, a packet of homeopathic pills for when I feel crap, and a discussion about my hearing. Looks possible I may get to see an audiologist sometime. Last time I had my hearing seriouisly checked over I was a bout 9, and they said not only could they not operate to fix the broken bits, they couldn't give me a useful hearing aid either. I'm just thinking maybe surgical techniques and/or technology have moved on since then :)
And then, after the doctor's,. I po pped into the Ashmolean for a while, and went to look at the Japanese gallery and some of the European ceramics and Egyptian artifacts. I was particularly interested in the fragments of Egyptian fabrics on display - you tend to think of the Ancient Egypti ans as smothered in dust and huge stone things, but these fabrics were very carefully woven and embroidered,. Very nice. The Japanese things were also worth seeing - there was a mid-nineteenth-century picnic box I loved, which looked very modern in some w ays - quite small, very compact and well-designed, with a delicate yet formal pattern of fan shapes. Lovely.
Next, I did a little shopping. Bought three books from Waterstone's with some leftover book tokens - 'Fanny Hill (John Cleland), 'No Name' (Wilk ie Collins), and 'The Tenant of Wildfell Hall' (Anne Bronte). All classics. I just became aware that there were a huge bunch of classic books I had not read, despite that kind of thing being one of my favourite sorts of literature. I borrowed neve's 'Moll Flanders' not long ago, and that was great. I'm getting into 'No Name' at the moment - I knew I would like it, since I love Wilkie Collins in general.
So that was Thursday - pretty good going, I thought.
Then on Friday I went to Bracknell to watch anime with
weds and
damerell. Got there appallingly late, having gone home to change and pick up stuff, then gone to corner shop to post letter, buy chocolate, and get money - of course, their ATM was broken, and this took about 15 minutes to sort out. Then I had to wait for a bus, then a train, and then, to cap it all, at Reading I got onto the wrong train (though goodness knows how) and got carried miles in the wrong direction. Anyway, after I finally made it, we watched lots o f anime lesbians, and I was given my first taste of Digi Charat, the Starlights from BSSM, Ebichu and a number of other fun things my poor addled brain can't cope with remembering right now. I crashed on their futon, got fed pancakes in the morning, and w ent home a very happy bunny-nyu.
Sadly I missed jdc's canvassing on Saturday through getting back from Bracknell too late; and I felt so tired in the evning that I didn;t go to the animesoc Cowboy Bebop taster night after all. There will be other opport unities. I really need to find someone who can lend me the Black Rose Arc of Utena, though. It exists within OAV, just not sure exactly who has what.
Oh yes, and the Sailor Moon S dub SUCKS! On the other hand, poseable sexy Haruka and Michiru plushies rock like nothing else :) I got far too interested in them. Really. I think I have worked out how to make that accessory we were discussing, Wednesday...
Anyway, today it is the first day of First Week, and we are supposed to have a CLOTS meeting tonight, had better check email to see if we worked out times...e
