SHELVES!

I have shelves! SHELVES, I tell you, SHELVES! I have FIVE nice shelves above my desk in the alcove where there was before only a Wallace and Gromit poster! I can PUT THINGS on them! I am ecstatic! I am exceedingly grateful to kizzie, who came over to help put them up, and to borusa who purchased almost all the bits.

Oh, it's been a fantastic day :) We were both pretty much DIY newbies, and now there are shelves, and they are attached to the wall, and they are not wonky, and they are the right length, and they're just GREAT!

I have wanted shelves of my own for nearly two years, and there they are! All in a row! WHEEEEEEE!

When it comes to all you tidying and things, I should say that I have a particular love of shelving books. I blame it on having a former library assistant for a mother, and having worked in a bookshop for a while. Not that I'm not very willing to help with other things too. *grins*

All of course being dependent on me sorting out the silly chest infection v. soon, but fingers crossed...

I did quite a bit of that at the end of last week; we still have nowhere near enough shelves for all out books, but now batches of authors are all together, so we can start keeping track of them. I have done mostly Robert's scifi and fantasy books (he has an entire shelf of Anne McCaffrey and that isn't all of them!) but now I have more shelves I'm going to start on some of mine. I think the lowest two shelves will have craft items and some library cases of design reference books; upper shelves can have non-fiction and perhaps all my books on Japan and maybe modern languages. Top shelf can have more library cases of old language and theology notes. I have it all planned out :)

Wahoo for shelves - it's so nice to have stuff all together, even if it's not perfect. I'm in the process of moving al my books to the big bookcase in the hall, and when I do, all mine & Adam's books will be neatly alphabetised, and our hall will rock. We have no where near as many books as either of you, but still!
