I have been phoned about more work. This is a 6-month maternity leave cover in Theale, doing general admin tasks. Could be good, pays from 15k per year, so that's about, er, 7500 over 6 months. I have said Momentum can send my CV in; I'm not sure about this because it means not being available for non-time-limited work which comes up. I'll have to see how it goes. I am losing track of all the agencies and applications and jobs and papers. I have more papers downstairs to go through. I got a rejection for the Global FSE job (the ones in Tilehurst) which is no problem because it was rather badly paid anyhow and I wasn't particularly excited by the work.

Doesn't really mean not being available, because however long the contract is for it will still have a notice period. Now is a good time to do lots of work also because we're already halfway through the tax year, so the takehome pay on half of 15k will actually be more like it would be on half of 17k, after normal tax.

You can still give notice, surely, no matter how long the contract is...

OTOH it could be a few months when you didn't have to keep on worrying about jobs -- I know how depressing the process of applying gets. :-/

Good luck, anyway. *hugs*

Maternity cover is good - it might well be extended beyond six months, and it gives you some time when you know you've got an income to relax and make long term plans.

And yes, I know I've not got back to you about the Tome - tis in my to do pile, and I ought to reach it fairly soon now. I'm sorry.

Do it, the security of even short-term contract work is well worth it, and you can always give notice if needed.
