I think I might make potato salad tomorrow. I've got new potatoes and mayonnaise. If you were me, what else would you add?

Currently I have no money. Well, I have about twenty-three pounds which has to last me I-don't-know-how-long. That figure is, fortunately, *after* the food-shopping I have just done - I have spent about fourteen pounds on food. Now I want you to suggest what I should do with it!

Read on for my food list! )

Okay, so my father and his girlfriend gave me an enormous bag of food when they helped me move. It included the usual stuff - fruit juice, pasta, some sauces, noodles, some fruit - and some things I wouldn't have bought myself, like big matzos crackers and biolive yoghurt. It also included three little pots labelled Organix, out of their packet - plainly leftovers of something. I thought they were yoghurt, and indeed they say 'apple, banana, apricot' on the top in dot-matrix print.

I have just opened one, and it's not yoghurt. I have googled it, and it's actually baby food - fruit puree. Why, why, why on God's green earth have I been given baby puree? I am very confused. Also, it's too banana-y for me. (I like banana, but only very fresh ones in their skins, not processed banana of any sort. Baked banana with chocolate is just barely acceptable.)

GAH! I have a hippycrap CD (also known as 'relaxation music') on to stop me faffing too much while working on my critical analysis - and it's a RAINFALL one, and it's making me NEED A WEE. That's no bloody good, is it?

Yumpty-yumpty-yumpty-yum, yumpty-yum, yumpty-yum...

This is the 'Lucy Is Eating Tasty Grapes' song. It is believed to be a derivative work based on the 'Lucy Is Hoiking Things Up The Stairs' song, which goes

Humpty-humpty-humpty-hum, humpty-hum, humpty-hum...

You may notice the similarity.

Said songs are heard only in very specific circumstances; not only must the Lucy be (respectively) eating tasty grapes or hoiking things up the stairs, she must be happy while so doing. These are rare occurrences, to be savoured and enjoyed by the intrepid anthropologist.

I am currently eating the yummiest impromptu meal ever!

Take one boneless pork thing, one portion of rice noodles, one sachet of instant miso soup, half an onion, one clove of garlic, and several spoonsful of sweetcorn.

Heat a wok containing a good splosh of sesame oil (and, if you are crazy, some soy sauce). Snip your pork into bite-size pieces. Slice up your garlic very fine, and your onion quite chunky. Meanwhile boil the kettle.

Chuck your pork into the wok. Stir it about to make sure it does not stick - repeat this frequently so it cooks on all sides and all the way through. Add the garlic. Add the onion

Put the miso in a saucepan and add about a cupful of boiling water. Bubble the thing gently. Add the noodles and a splosh of soy sauce and cook on a low low heat for the time it says on the noodle packet (four minutes for mine).

Add the sweetcorn to the wok, along with more soy sauce, and stir lots. Check the meat is cooked and the onion is softened. When the noodles are done, tip the contents of the saucepan (liquid and all) into the wok, and bubble like crazy till it looks good and you want to eat it. Then pour into a biggish bowl and devour it. Recommended cutlery = fork and spoon.

*goes away to finish eating delectable yumminess*
